Chinese drywall cleaned up with taxpayer dollars financed by…China of course.

I just read in the newspaper that the Hillsborough County Commission (Tampa, Fla.) is considering making federal “community block grant” money available to local homeowners who have Chinese drywall. If you’re not familiar with Chinese drywall it’s drywall that was made in China (probably in a forced prison-labor camp) that emits a sulfuric (think poop) like smell and causes corrosion in copper pipes and other metals in the home.
So now, our government in its infinite wisdom is going to give you federal dollars financed with money loaned to us by the Chinese to clean-up a mess made by…the Chinese! Only in America. Is it any wonder why our country is in the toilet?
If the Hillsborough County Commission has even an ounce of leadership on its seven-member board it will tell the Feds to take their block money and put it where the sun don’t shine. These types of hand-outs benefit only a few and add to the ballooning federal debt our children are being saddled with. It is currently $12,308,476,032,912.33 — that’s over $40,000 in debt for every man, woman, and child legally living in the United States right now.
Accepting this type of “pork” simply because it is there (which it really is not since we don’t have the money) is a lame excuse. If more local leaders told Washington “enough is enough” maybe the clowns in Congress would get the message: stop buying votes at the expense of our children’s futures.
And since when is that stinky smell in your house the government’s responsibility to get cleaned up? You bought it. You clean it up. You tell China thanks, but no thanks, we’re not buying your products anymore.
