Never having ran for public office before and being independently wealthy , Governor Rick Scott understandably was not familiar with some of the attendant duties that come with being the leading Republican in the state – like having to getting on the telephone and raise money.
Speaking to reporters after addressing the closing event at the Republican National Committee's Summer Meeting in Tampa Friday afternoon, Scott was asked by the St. Petersburg Times' Richard Danielson if he had been asked to do fundraising for the Tampa 2012 Host Committee for the Republican Convention coming to Tampa in a little more than a year from now.
Scott said yes he had, and then confided, "Oh yeah, yeah. One thing about this job: you run for Governor because you care about the country, then you find out part of your job is raising money for this, and this and this..so it's part of the job. "
