A Central Florida home designed by Gene Leedy, a pioneer in the Florida modern movement and a founding father of the Sarasota School of Architecture, is now on the market.

Located at 1540 N Lake Mirror Dr. NW, in Winter Haven, the home was completed in 1967 for the late Thelma Lynne Guest, a local math teacher from the area, and is a classic example of Leedy’s penchant for using precast concrete construction, deep overhangs and glass walls and doors.

The 3,885-square-foot home sits along Lake Mirror, and comes with three bedrooms and three bathrooms, as well as a glass atrium, a heated saltwater pool, a fireplace, an elevator, a kitchen and master suite situated upstairs to maximize views of the lake, and more.

The home is currently asking $950,000 and the listing agent is Michaal and Deanna Stone of The Stones Real Estate Firm.

The Guest House is one of 25 homes in the area designed by Leedy, who opened his practice in Winter Haven in 1954. Besides the Guest House, Leedy is also responsible for quite a few notable Central Florida buildings, like the University of South Florida President’s Home, Winter Haven City Hall, Brentwood Elementary School in Sarasota, and the Walden Lake Country Club in Plant City.
