Tampa Bay is flourishing with arts events this spring, and The Tampa Museum of Art is among fellow museums debuting new exhibitions. Next month's "Modern Women: Modern Vision" opens on Feb. 20 and runs through May 24.

The show includes more than one hundred photographic images from the Bank of America Collection divided into six thematic sections: “Modernist Innovators,” “Documentary Photography and the New Deal,” “Photo League,” “Modern Masters,” “Exploring the Environment,” and “The Global Contemporary Lens.”

Some of the artists featured in this exhibition include Berenice Abbott, Diane Arbus, Tina Barney, Bernd Becher and Hilla Becher.

In a release, Joanna Robotham, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art, explained the importance of this new exhibition, “This exhibition is important because it highlights the achievements of women photographers and how they have contributed to our understanding of photography as an art form. Moreover, many of the photographers pioneered new directions and new narratives in photography. I am excited for the Tampa Museum of Art to host this exhibition as photography is a cornerstone of our collection and the show emphasizes ideas that I have explored in past exhibitions, as well concepts I hope to develop in future projects. We are pleased to work with Bank of America and share with our visitors their significant collection of 20th- and 21stt-century photography.”

Tickets for the museum are $5-$15; children under 6 get in free. The Tampa Museum of Art is located at 120 W. Gasparilla Plaza in Tampa.
