Gratuitous politics

I am a long-time aficionado of your publication. More times than not, I am enlightened by what I read. However, there are those occasional times …

Regarding Lance Goldenberg's review of the Israeli film Broken Wings, I find it ironic, not to mention incredibly offensive, that when Goldenberg is telling readers that the film is devoid of any particular political view, he feels compelled to add his own. Goldenberg writes: "There are no political messages to be found anywhere in the film," and then adds "… no looming security fences, no Palestinian terrorists shooting babies through the head."

I would suggest Mr. Goldenberg keep his obvious political bias to himself. His reviews will have more credibility because of it.

High heels starve the brain

I think Susan Edwards must have had too much mascara on her brain the day she wrote the "Belles with Balls" article. I am also disappointed that such a classy newspaper such as Weekly Planet would print such vulgarity disguised as sick humor.

For Susan to admit to enjoying her designated drag night perhaps she might be looking for some beauty tips to enhance her appearance. Since she admits to remembering the incredible El Goya days, it would appear she is still looking. Is this your picture in the article? (Editor's note: No. That was a man with a beard.)

Truth is that most women have no idea what guys like to look at or find attractive. Or are they just too lazy to go to the lengths that these entertainers do so well? It is no wonder that so many heterosexuals go visit these drag places so they can see what real women are supposed to look like. Add the show talents they have and be amazed at what is entertainment on an absolutely fabulous level.

Both Chambers and Valentines are packed to the walls on show nights, and it is not just the music and the liquor that brings the guests there. These shows are fairly wide open to guest interviews on stage. It would be nice to have Susan introduce herself one evening and with her own set of balls present her views on fashion and entertainment.

I am reminded that while all poodles are dogs, not all dogs are poodles. Not all women are as female as they might like to be. When you return, let me suggest that beauty is only skin deep.

Hope you return again some night, Miss Susan — and next time I hope you write something less offensive.

Corrections

Someone was apparently yanking RhondaK's chain when they told her that the buffalo head in Nickel City Bar & Grill turned white after it was set on fire ("Where the Buffalo Seekers Roam," May 12-18). Truth is, says Manager Travis McHenry, artist Mike Jenney painted it and created the trompe l'oeil mural around it to create the illusion it was busting through the wall.

Also, a recent Music Menu item misspelled the name of Chuck Owen and Jazz Surge.
