Jobsite Theater’s production of “Dr. Ride’s American Beach House” opens Sept. 29, and you're going to need a negative COVID-19 test (or proof of vaccination) to get in.

In fact, the same goes for all productions from the Tampa troupe—and anything else within the Straz Center—for the foreseeable future. That includes the Halloween-ready “Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde” (Oct. 20-Nov. 14).

Masks are also required, vaxxed or not.

“Dr. Ride’s American Beach House” features “queer anti-heroines” on the night before Dr. Sally Ride’s historic first woman in space launch. Written by playwright Liza Birkenmeier, Jobsite’s production is the first outside of New York where it got impressive reviews.

And ICYMI, there’s an encore performance of the successful macabre musical “Shockheaded Peter” happening Nov. 23-Dec. 4.  For now, Jobsite has moved over to the more roomy Jaeb Theater from its usual home in Shimberg Playhouse.

Tickets or season passes are currently on sale for all Jobsite Season 2021-22 shows. For more information, go to jobsitetheater.org.

Support arts journalism in these crazy days and consider making a one time or monthly donation to help support our staff. Every little bit helps.
