You may recognize the baker, who is most likely rocking multicolored hair, from Datz's Instagram, or her appearance on the competition series Sugar Rush on Netflix, or hosting MTV’s mini-series Meme Cakes, or on a United Airlines flight where she shows flyers her “Three perfect days in Tampa Bay.”
The pastry chef has more than 15,000 followers on Instagram and shares her life and business in a very down-to-earth way.
Over the last 10 months, McCall says it's been all about growth.
“I’ve been taking time this time to figure out who I am as a brand, focus on who I am as a person," she says. "It feels like lifetimes have gone by [since Datz] and I’ve transformed three times over.”
The baker spends a majority of her time creating custom cake and cookie orders and facilitating kids’ baking parties.
But the project she is most excited about is her CBD infusions.
“Although it’s trendy, I don’t think everyone knows the science behind it.”
If you take a look around the Tampa Bay restaurant scene, you can find a CBD infused cocktail or dessert, on many menus, but McCall is putting in the research to figure out a method so that her products will give her customers the most efficient soluble CBD effects.
At first, she was worried about her following, and how they would react to this new venture. But she says that they’ve been surprisingly supportive.
“As soon as I made that announcement I was worried that the kids’ party parents wouldn’t think it’s OK, but sure enough, when I posted a poll on Instagram, 94% of my following said they were supportive of herbal stuff.”
Lately, McCall has been a guest working with Magical Butter, creating recipes for views including a cannabis-infused strawberry basil cake.
“Magical Butter has helped me get into the herbal side of infusions and extractions, which has helped with my recipe development. We have a lot of secret projects coming up that I’m excited to share.”
When it comes to her custom infused orders, McCall’s hope is to bring people together via sweet sense experiences and genuine human interactions.
“Positive energy with colorful packaging,” she says with a laugh.
She's crossing her fingers for law changes that enable these potent creations to be more accessible and legal in the Tampa Bay area.
“Modern America has way less connected with nature. We are desensitized, more manic and I want to bring relief to the community.”
Her hope is for her customers to be able to utilize these treats for their spiritual, mental and emotional wellness, while still getting their sweet tooth fix.
“I hope that these future products will allow people to take a step back from their hectic life and feel present with their body and in the moment, and be able to take in what’s going on around them. Then be able to reflect and figure out where else they can slow down in their life without being medicated.”
With elections on the horizon, McCall is hopeful.
“I’m optimistic that Florida will be voting with health and wellness in mind; I hope they get it together. We’re ready for this positive change.”
