This daytime music event is a fundraiser for FoHCAS (Friends of Hillsborough County Animal Services) to honor the memory of Scott “Pinetop” Peterson. Peterson, drummer for the Quivering Rhythm Hounds, who created the event 28 years ago to spread the word that pets shouldn’t be left in hot cars (after a pet sitter did so with his black lab).

His brother, Mark Peterson, emcees the event, and most of the band members who donated their time and talent have played with him.

The Lint Rollers, Rhonda Ananda, and more are on the bill.

Coming hungry and thirsty for Skipper’s is encouraged, but bringing pets is not. Tell them all about it when you get home.

Tickets for the 28th Annual Scratch My Back Benefit at Skipper’s Smokehouse in Tampa on Saturday, April 12 are still available for $15. Readers are invited to submit their own events to Creative Loafing Tampa Bay’s things to do calendar.
