David Bowie returned to Ziggy Stardust-style spectacle on his 1987 Glass Spider tour that produced the 1988 video of the same name, which recently got reissued on DVD. The set is Broadway huge with campy space props including a mammoth, arachnid-shaped mother ship with fluorescent tentacles looming overhead. Bowie is backed by a plethora of musicians who double as mimes/actors during the skits that accompany forgettable numbers from his flaccid mid-'80s albums. Covers of "I Wanna Be Your Dog" and "White Light/Heat" prove interesting, but on balance this is a concert document strictly for Thin Duke diehards. The reissue also includes two CDs that capture a show from the same tour. 2.5 stars
