Moving Current Dance Collective co-directors Cynthia Hennessy and Erin Cardinal are joined by a trio of modern dance movers-and-shakers for An Evening of Contemporary & Aerial Dance. Miami choreographer Bill Doolin's "Relatively Speaking" is a straightforward piece that has Cardinal, Shana Perkins and Courtney Smith moving and shifting to a dreamy composition by Arvo Pärt. NYC's dancer-choreographers Jennifer Nugent and Paul Matteson offer two solo works and one duet. "Little" is an introspective, ballroom dance-inspired piece featuring Nugent, while "Block Idol" pits a dogged Matteson against some uncooperative yoga blocks. The highlight of the concert, hailed by both The Village Voice and The New York Times, is "Fare Well," a piece in which Nugent and Matteson's supple, synchronized movements evoke the ebb and flow of a relationship. The program also includes "Cozy Up," a piece directed by the duo and performed by five Moving Current dancers; and "Herillian," a collaborative work by Cardinal and Hennessy that features an original score by Seattle's Devin Rice.
