Not everyone can tour their way around California's top vineyards. (Napa ain't cheap!) But lucky for us, one American tavern is bringing a taste of Cali to the Bay area.
Hosted at Marlow's Tavern in Tampa, Thursday's wine-pairing dinner is set to match four dreamy dishes with four California vintages.
Expect pan-seared sea scallops with ginger soy cream and sesame wonton crisps alongside True Myth Chardonnay (Edna Valley 2014); Paraiso Pinot Noir (Monterey 2013) accompanied by grilled Maple Leaf Farms duck, marinated for 24 hours and served with sweet potato purée and sautéed spinach; and South East Family Farms pork loin, roasted as well as garlic- and herb-crusted, paired with True Myth Cabernet Sauvignon (California 2013).
Plus, the evening's dessert — presented with Tangent Sauvignon Blanc (Edna Valley 2014) — will top grilled berry short cake with sweet cream and fresh berries for a sweet finish. Call the restaurant for reservations.
