Last week we mocked a Chicago area Dentist who spent $5,000 to air television ads in some of the biggest cities in the country advocating for Hillary Clinton to take on Barack Obama for the Democratic nomination for President in 2012.  Such fantasies live strong among the die-hard Clintonistas.  And by mentioning this, by no means do we wish to disparage the Secretary of State, who we believe is doing a "boffo" job over at State (in fact, Tunku Varadarajan in the Daily Beast calls her speech Wednesday before the Council on Foreign Relations as the best speech given by a member of the Obama administration yet, You can watch some of that here):

Varadarajan writes that he thinks Clinton's speech makes clear that she would have made a better president than Obama.  We won't touch that, but we will touch on one of our favorite observations: the obsession that some have – such as some commentators on Fox News – that she will run against Obama in 2012. That theory isn't just relegated to conservatives who wish Obama harm; no doubt some hardcore supporters who begrudgingly supported Obama in '08 though their heart was with Hillary might be also titillated by the prospect as well.
