Next week, St. Petersburg's newest spot for ramen will premiere in the EDGE District.

Buya Ramen, a Japanese gastropub concept, or izakaya, was initially shooting for a July soft opening at 911 Central Ave. when CL talked with owner Michael Sponaugle last month. On Friday, Buya's official opening date was announced as 4 p.m. Aug. 10. Diners can start making reservations online.

The 2,500-square-foot Buya, a ramen shop at its core, will seat 80 inside and 24 outside. For eats, the menu plans to feature ramen varieties like crispy duck, wagyu brisket and vegetarian, plus gyoza and hot pot rice. Craft cocktails and Japanese whisky can be expected on the beverage end; Sponaugle plans to showcase the largest selection of Japanese whisky on the east coast.
