You've heard the word, "Ayurveda" and maybe you know what it means — it's Sanskrit for "the science of life" — but maybe you're thinking you'd like to know more.
Where do you start? Sure, you can Google it, but it can still be confusing. Does third-eye therapy make you poop better? Is third-eye therapy a legit thing? Do you have to brush your skin? How the hell do you balance your navel region?
So, maybe, what we're saying, is one of these three local practitioners can help separate the floof from the facts.
1. In St. Petersburg, learn the basics. Best of the Bay-winning The Body Electric Yoga has periodic Ayurveda info sessions and workshops, and there's one coming up this Sunday at 11 a.m., priced at $30.
2. Get a one-on-one consultation in Tampa. The Lotus Pond Center for Yoga & Health has scads of different Ayurvedic sessions, classes and workshops, but the one-on-one might suit you better than a group setting if you can't make it Sunday, don't live near The BE, or simply don't feel comfortable around groups.
3. Head to Gainseville for an Ayurveda health retreat. Go big or go home — take the last of those personal days and take advantage of Alachua's Ayurveda Health Retreat. They offer Ayurvedic cooking classes, vegetarian Ayurvedic meals and yoga classes while you're staying there.
