There are moments, late in the night, when downtown Clearwater can be a little creepy (sorry, Scientologists huddled in an alley smoking cigarettes). This screening of Wes Craven’s 1996 classic slasher film Scream might qualify, too, since it’s happening at the probably haunted Capitol Theatre, which first opened its doors in 1921.

According to some websites, a murdered body was found during renovations in the ‘80s, and orbs have been caught on film (there’s also a ghost called “The Captain,” one named “Bill” and another of a 10-year-old girl). A 6 p.m. trivia session will get your spirits up if you don’t believe in ghosts. Just don’t pee alone, OK?

Fri., July 12. 405 Cleveland St., Clearwater. 7 p.m. rutheckerdhall.com.
