Cobb Luxury 10 cinema going up in Tyrone Square Mall

Doesn't it seem like going to the movies is only worth it if the movie is some type of special effects masterpiece; some type of wild 3D thrill ride? If I'm not going to have my tits blown off at the theatre, then I'd rather wait until whatever flick I'm interested in comes out on DVD, so I can pay a dollar to rent it, grab a pizza and chill on my couch, with my feet up, a glass of wine in hand, under the comfort of my own roof. Well, it seems like Simon, the retail real estate firm, and Cobb Theatres are thinking the same way. They're bringing the luxuries of home (and then some) to the big screen environment with the Cobb Luxury 10 Theatre, going up in the Tyrone Square Mall, in St. Pete.

The 10 stadium auditoria will come with 1,200 leather, electronically controlled recliner seats with footrests, 100 percent digital projection, 11.1 sound quality, wall-to-wall 3D screens, a D-BOX auditorium with chairs synced to the action of the movie, rear window captioning and descriptive audio for hearing and sight impaired guests. And, perhaps best of all, the Cobb Luxury 10 Theatre will offer patrons the option of purchasing a chef-inspired meal or adult beverage from "Cobbster’s Kitchen."

"We’re very pleased to announce the newest addition to Cobb Theatres and are thrilled to be a part of the St. Petersburg area," said Jeremy Welman, chief operating officer at Cobb Theatres. "This location will incorporate the newest technology with our modern next generation design. We’re excited to bring the Cobb standards of guest experience and service to the moviegoers in this community."

Construction is slated to begin in the first quarter of 2015 and expected to finish in early 2016.
