Attention film lovers — the Tampa Bay Jewish Film Festival continues. See La Rafle at 7 p.m. at Muvico Baywalk, and director Evgeny Afineevsky introduces the 9 p.m. screening of Oy Vey! My Son is Gay! starring Lainie Kazan and Carmen Electra. Visitors can meet the director at 7:30 p.m. during a pre-show reception at Mindy Solomon Gallery, 124 Second Ave. N.E., downtown St. Pete.
That crazy whirlwind of an annual tradition is back: The Florida State Fair. A total of 106 rides dip you down and zip you around. New this year: the Daytona Kiddie Ride, the Riptide roller coaster and Remix which takes you on a high-flying spin.
Added to the cholesterol cavalcade this year is mashed potatoes and gravy on a stick. Or try if you dare the grilled meatloaf sundae or — even better yet — an ice-cream burger: a cheeseburger stuffed with fried ice cream.
We don't have to tell you, but, please, ride before you eat. Your tummy and innocent bystanders thank you in advance.
