Fall is pretty much synonymous with the giving spirit, so why not get started with Scarfone/Hartley Gallery’s Art on the Boulevard, a silent auction fundraiser to support the art’s educational programming (like their new elementary school Spring Break Art Immersion Camp) and top-notch gallery exhibitions. Snag some great works by artists like Sedrick Huckaby, Tracy Midulla and Aneka Ingold (holiday gifts, y’all!). Their goal is to make $15,000 by the end of the year for their matching grant challenge. So let’s pull out some green from our wallets, shall we?
But that’s the only reason to check out the Scarfone/Hartley Gallery now that Hurricane Irma isn’t the only thing we’re concerned with. In celebration of their 40th Anniversary, they’ve dug into their archives to pull together an impressive selection of works (seriously, did you even know they collected?) from current and previous UT professors to internationally-recognized artists who have passed though the various visiting artist programs. I’m still poring over Judy Chicago’s elegantly embroidered Birth Project, Creation of the World , but the dark Francis-Bacon-esque paintings by Frank Rampolla are also note-worthy. Through Sept. 23.
Here's more info about the gallery, and here's more info (pricing, contact info, etc.) about Art on the Boulevard.
