This new sci-fi thriller stars Lost’s Josh Holloway and The Walking Dead’s Sarah Wayne Callies, who head what would be a picture-perfect poster family – if not for the occupation and colonization by an advanced alien race during the near-future dystopian L.A. in which they reside. Problems they encounter include keeping their family alive, a missing son, choosing between opposing forces of collaboration and resistance, and, oh yeah, the fate of humankind against extraterrestrial forces. Resistance is futile. Watch the much-awaited debut this Thurs., Jan. 14 at 10 p.m. on USA.
Idiotsitter
An Ivy League grad finds herself taking a job babysitting a fully grown, yet not-so-smart, woman under house arrest at her father’s mansion. Creators Jillian Bell (Workaholics) and Charlotte Newhouse star in the sitcom, which premiered originally as a web exclusive before Comedy Central picked up the series for television. Catch the premiere this Thurs., Jan. 14 at 10:30 p.m. on Comedy Central.
Willie Nelson: The Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song
A special all-star tribute to country-music legend Willie Nelson with appearances by Rosanne Cash, Neil Young, Paul Simon and Alison Krauss. The special event airs Sat., Jan. 15 at 9 p.m. on PBS.
Angie Tribeca
Less Brooklyn Nine-Nine and more Sledge Hammer, this new police sitcom, created by Steve Carell and wife Nancy Carell, is a spoof of classic cop procedurals like Naked Gun. Rashida Jones stars as Angie Tribeca, a crime-solving member of LAPD’s RHCU (meaning Really Heinous Crimes Unit). Expect a healthy serving of guest star appearances including Bill Murray, Lisa Kudrow, James Franco – to name a few. Straying from traditional broadcasting convention, TBS will air all 10 episodes of the entire first season back-to-back over a 25-hour ad-free marathon. The binge-watching debut drops this Sun., Jan. 17 at 9 p.m., and airs air weekly beginning Jan. 25.
