Tampa Theatre's new speaker series, called Limelight, starts with a kick-ass lineup. Lou Holtz kicks off the new series, and the hits keep coming. Limelight, sponsored in part by the Vinik family, will feature an interdisciplinary roster of speakers.
“Limelight became a flicker in 2017, and members of our staff and board of directors have been working to bring it to reality over the past year,” Tampa Theatre President and CEO John Bell said. “There are some fantastic speaker events in Tampa already, but we saw an opening to create an annual series of nationally renowned speakers that would be both an innovative opportunity for the community as well as a signature event for Tampa Theatre.”
Here's the lineup:
Mar. 12: Football coach Lou Holtz
Apr. 4: Theoretical physicist Michio Kaku
Apr. 23: Southern Living Magazine editor-at-large and chair of UNICEF's Next Generation Jenna Hager
May 14: Florida author and environmentalist Carl Hiaasen (Hiaasen will also sell books at the event).
June 6: Photographer Platon
You can buy a subscription to the series for between $295 and $375 (that works out to $59-$75 per ticket, and those lower tickets are for those of you who will forego the convenience of online and get your subscription at the box office). Tampa Theatre also has a Platinum package ($625 at the box office or $657 online). The Platinum package includes premium seating and an open-bar, heavy hors d'oeuvres pre-show cocktail party before each event. Each event starts at 7:30 p.m.
