[image-1]A 15 minute Dr. Strange Movie? Come on, Marvel: In an effort to expand their dominance, Marvel is mulling over a few short films to introduce some of its less-known characters, like Doctor Strange (left). The idea is that if the short is popular, it would spawn a mega blockbuster … you know, like Fantastic Four.

Award season to conclude … in January? There was talk this week about the Oscars, and not just because Toy Story 3 established itself as an early favorite. The big talk was about moving the Oscars telecast from late February to the middle of January in an effort to shrink the (rapidly becoming destructive) awards season. Now, if they'd only cut the length of the show

Joan Rivers manager demands a fee for her career resurrection: As discussed during this week's Reel Projections podcast segment on Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work, the new documentary playing at the Tampa Theater this weekend, there is news about a central figure in the film. It seems Rivers' manager is suing the comedian for $179,000, because that is what he is due for resurrecting her career. (If you've seen the doc, you know there are two sides to this story.) I’m sure Rivers could come up with something funny to say, but this is mostly just tragic.

[image-2]Olyfantastic as Snake Plissken? Breck Eisner has been charged with remaking John Carpenter's legendary film, Escape from New York. The one problem, however, is who do you get to replace Kurt Russell as the iconic Snake Plissken? That’s a big problem, but Eisner thinks he has his man in Justified’s Timothy Olyphant. He’s proven he can be the western guy, but can he rock an eye-patch?

So, let’s get to the news…

The Cove may play Japan after all - A few weeks back, I reported that the Academy Award winning documentary The Cove would not be in Japanese theaters due to protests and threats of violence. Amanda Bynes quits via Twitter: Hollywood actress Amanda Bynes tweeted the other day that she is through with acting, causing the entire movie-watching world to weep! Oh, wait, no they didn’t. The collectively yawned and said, "yeah, right." Does anyone care?
