Last chance to catch The Odd Couple

Catch Gypsy Stage Repertory Company’s final productions of Neil Simon’s The Odd Couple this weekend at St. Pete’s Metro Wellness and Community Center.

Tonight’s show runs from 8 to 10 p.m. and Sunday’s show runs from 2 to 4 p.m.

The Odd Couple centers on a pair of mismatched roommates, both recently divorced: the slovenly sports writer Oscar Madison, and uptight clean freak Felix Ungar.

But Gypsy Stage’s production includes a twist on the timeless play, originally written in the 1960s: their take on this classic show takes place in present time with younger, metrosexual actors (Zack Meyers as Oscar and Jordan Harner as Felix.)

“It's been great fun presenting this classic comedy,” said director Lil Barcaski. “We have enjoyed putting a more modern-day twist to it and hope people make it out to catch the last weekend of performances.”

Simon's witty dialogue, vibrant characters, timely themes and hilarious one-liners have made him a true legend of American stage comedy. The Odd Couple is one of his funniest and most popular plays. The iconic characters of Oscar and Felix have become mainstays of popular culture; more surprisingly, it’s touching insights about friendship remain equally moving, nearly fifty years after its Broadway debut.

Tickets are $15 in advance; $20 at the door; and $25 for VIP tickets. Purchase tickets online here. All tickets include a free drink at Georgie’s Alibi after the show; cast and crew will be on hand for a meet and greet at the bar.
