Hurricane season officially starts this week, but you still have time to get ready for the next big storm.

With last year’s devastating hurricanes Helene and Milton in mind, the cities of Madeira Beach and St. Petersburg each host preparedness expos on Saturday.

Pinellas residents can learn how to prep early and what to do right before, during and after a storm with expert guest speakers, hurricane home improvement vendors and free snacks.

Barrier island residents can grab emergency passes at Madeira Beach City Hall.

At Willis S. Johns Recreation Center, St. Pete and Pinellas residents can enter a generator giveaway, see sandbag demos, get free shots and microchips for pets along with hurricane kits, talk to Bay News 9 meteorologists and register for the Special Needs Evacuation Program.

There is no cover for either event happening Saturday, May 31 in Madeira Beach and St. Petersburg.
