Yesterday, the Tampa Bay Rays told fans that the team will play its 2025 home games at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa.

The venue—Spring Training home of the Bronx Bombers and regular season field for the Yankees’ Single-A affiliate Tampa Tarpons—holds 11,000 fans, according to a press release (the Rays averaged 16,515 fans per game in 2024). Field Of Schemes noted an Associated Press report which says the Yankees will get about $15 million in revenue for hosting the Rays.

For anyone new to this latest chapter in the Rays stadium saga, Hurricane Milton ripped the roof open at the Rays’ St. Petersburg home, Tropicana Field, where the team has played since 1998. The City of St. Petersburg—which has already committed $417.5 million to helping the Rays build a new stadium—said it would chip in towards the $55 million cost to fix the roof, which won’t be ready until the 2026 season.

In a release sent to the media yesterday, the Rays also shared nearly four dozen photos of the damage inside Tropicana Field and its offices.
