Man. How great is Lost? Seriously, there is nothing like it on TV (as we've learned from recent over-hyped wannabes like V and Flash Forward). Tuesday night's episode "Happily Ever After," was extraordinary. Great acting from some of the show's best characters? Check. A riveting storyline? Check. Some mythological reveals? Sorta. Not to mention the hour was jam-packed with parallels. Here are a few, in case you missed them:
- The marina Desmond and Charlie crashed into looked like the one where Ben shot Desmond in season 5.
- Widmore pours Desmond a shot of McCutchen and tells him nothing is too good for him. When Desmond interviews for a job with Widmore in season 3, Widmore refuses to serve Desmond the scotch.
- Desmond is asked if he has metal before he is put in Widmore's contraption on the island, and in Sideways world before he is placed in the MRI machine.
- Penny is running stadiums when Desmond first meets her in Sideways world. Before Desmond goes on his race around the world in the other reality, Desmond ran stadiums. The last time he sees Penny before the trip is when she visits him during one of these workouts.
- The whole scene with Desmond and Charlie crashing into the water was reminiscent of Charlie's death in season 3.
- Dan tells Desmond in Sideways world that when he saw Charlotte (the blue-eyed, red-haired beauty) at the museum, she was eating chocolate. Before she dies in season 5, she mumbles incoherently about being a little girl and not being able to eat chocolate before dinner.
- Eloise tells Desmond that "Whatever happened, happened," a phrase echoed throughout the show especially by main time-traveling characters such as Eloise.
