Adventure’s the word for 2019, because this is the year for exploring what your body is capable of as you push and stretch outside of your comfort zone. Here are my picks to put some spring into your step.

Free yoga at Crescent Lake Park
Healthy St. Pete, a self-declared “citywide community engagement and empowerment initiative that will help our community eat, play, shop and live healthier,” works in myriad ways to improve the physical, mental and emotional health of the residents of the 'Burg. Get in the Zen zone amongst banyan trees and osprey soaring overhead: Crescent Lake Park is the perfect setting for Healthy St. Pete’s free monthly yoga session. Classes take place on the first Saturday of each month at 9 a.m. 727-892-5994, healthystpetefl.com.

Roosevelt Dads Club Golf Tournament
February in Florida: It doesn’t get much better than that. Go enjoy the Sunshine State’s finest weather on the fairway and help put the fun back in fundraising. Roosevelt Elementary School Dads Club will host its 13th annual golf tournament fundraiser this February. So break out those rusty old irons and practice your putt. Even if your golf game sucks, you still have a shot at winning the Big Green Egg and Yeti raffles. Plus, there are on-course beverages and a barbecue pig roast. You can’t Dad much harder than that. Bonus: This elementary school’s mascot (mascots?) is (are?) the Rough Riders. Feb. 22: 11 a.m. rooseveltdadsclub.com.

Trail Fun Run at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve
Taking a leisurely stroll around Boyd Hill Nature Preserve is so 2018. Instead, Healthy St. Pete invites you to try out the trails on one of their monthly fun runs. Grab a friend who loves checking out Boyd Hill’s birds of prey, hardwood hammocks and sand pines and lace up. Pack a snack to enjoy afterwards by the water or on one of the many picnic benches scattered around the preserve. Second Saturday of each month. healthystpetefl.com.

Royal Palm Market
Just because the holiday season is over doesn’t mean you should stop shopping local: Take your support outdoors for the new Royal Palm Market on St. Pete's 1100 block. Local vendors feature handmade leather, art, soaps, candles and — of course — specialty dog treats for your favorite furry friend. Bring Fido along so he can stroll through the streets and get some steps in, too. Thursdays at 6 p.m. facebook.com/royalpalmmarket.

St. Anthony’s Triathlon
A great race for rookies and elite athletes alike: The St. Anthony’s Triathlon takes place in beautiful downtown St. Petersburg for its 36th year this April. If you’ve been curious about “tri”-ing, the St. A’s Triathlon is an awesome introduction to the sport. Water conditions average in the low 80s and the post-race party takes place waterfront at North Shore Park. There’s still plenty of time to sign up and train for this unforgettable race. Apr. 27-28. 727-825-1521, baycare.org/satriathlon.
