Tampa Theatre is bringing “Star Wars: A New Hope” to a park near you… downtown Tampa’s Curtis Hixon Park on Saturday, Sept. 18, specifically.

Though technically the “Fourth Episode” in the George Lucas universe, the 1977-released film was the first one to hit theaters and hearts of all geeks, nerds and sci-fi buffs everywhere. That’s when the world first met Han Solo, Princess Leia, and that lovable furball wookie Chewbacca.

Blankets, chairs and picnic baskets are encouraged, as is social distancing. And just because it’s outside, doesn’t mean you can talk through the movie.

Showtime is 8 p.m. and though the screening is free, reservations are encouraged by registering via Eventbrite. For more information, go to tampatheatre.org.
