There is a new soon-to-be favorite TV series: DreamWorks Animation Television's new series Spirit: Riding Free. Bonus? It stars Tampa native Amber Frank.

Amber is the voice of the lead character, Lucky Prescott. Lucky is a fearless 12 year old girl who moves to a small country town from a big city with her father. Amber is known for her work as Taylor Hathaway on the Nickelodeon TV show The Haunted Hathaways. Her most recent project was in Vanished: Left Behind —The Next Generation.

Spirit: Riding Free is inspired by the Oscar-nominated film, Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron. However, this show focuses on a pre-teen girl and her wild mustang, Spirit. Through her experiences in this new town, she learns about friendship.

We got a chance to speak to Amber about her experience making this tv show and why it was important to work on this project:

What types of lessons will preteens and young children get from this series?

There are many lessons that are taught throughout this series, like women empowerment. You can do whatever you set your mind too. Also, if you want something, work hard and never give up. Chase after what you really want, always keep your dream in front you.

What is your one big dream for yourself?

My big dream is a lead acting role in an action movie where I am a superhero character or spy.

What was this an important project for you to do?

I loved the original Spirit movie and I've always wanted to see a show that was centered around young girls. Growing up, I've seen so many things centered around boys and I always felt like I was put in a certain category like mean girl or pretty girl. I never saw anything that empowered me and made me really happy. Now, I can share this message with young girls around the world.

How are you fearless?

I am fearless in a way that I put myself out in the public a lot and stay true to myself. Like Lucky, she moves to a new town from the big city and has to make new friends. She always stays true to herself.

Do you still live in Tampa?

I moved to L.A. when I was 9 [she's now 18], but I love coming back to Tampa to visit family. I love to visit Publix, Chick-Fil-A and Clearwater Beach.

What are you favorite things to do with your friends?

We actually just went to Coachella this past weekend. We are such an adventurous group. We do late night drives, travel, take road trips and keep life exciting for each other with quality time together.

What is your favorite part of doing an animated series?

It's definitely odd coming from live action acting. You actually work a couple of times a month for a few hours a day, versus several hours a day for live action. We don't have to worry about hair or makeup, and work in small session. I love that we have way more energy to play with the material we have because its animated.

What is your hope for this series?

I hope we can continue working on this series for a really long time. The entire cast and crew is amazing and we always had fun. It's such a cute show that's also empowering.
