The Bucs will probably get smoked by the Bills, but what about that trade deadline?

So let’s assume the Bucs are 3-4 heading into next Tuesday’s trade deadline; do they buy? Do they sell?

Thursday Night Football. What a concept.

At 8:15 p.m. tonight the Bucs will be in Buffalo to take on the mighty Bills and their talented yet underperforming team.

Both teams had embarrassing showings last Sunday, with the Bills losing on a last second TD from Mac Jones and the Patriots, and, well, you know how the Bucs game went.

In light of it being a ridiculously short week, and the Bills being a vastly superior team to the Bucs on paper, the Bucs are going to lose 31-13 Thursday night.

That’s an ugly score prediction, but it’s unfortunately a reality. Buffalo is going to play angry, and the Bucs are going to be outmatched and outclassed in pretty much every facet of the game.

So let’s assume the Bucs are 3-4 heading into next Tuesday’s trade deadline; do they buy? Do they sell?

I have no idea, and I think the Bucs front office will likely be open to either option. If a team is willing to give up a second or first round pick for Mike Evans, I think they pull the trigger.

If there’s an upgrade at the running back position available at a reasonable price (Josh Jacobs, Saquon Barkley, and Dalvin Cook are potentially on the trading block), then the Bucs could go for that, too.

Then again, it’s the NFL. Trades just don’t happen as often as other sports. So we could be talking next week about the same exact roster with the same list of issues and concerns.

If that does happen, you can’t blame the Bucs for staying the course; this roster does have enough talent to win this awful division, but they’re not nearly good enough to invest significant future draft capital for a temporary upgrade.

Standing put is the most plausible (and maybe even the smartest) move for the Bucs.

Unfortunately, that means this season could continue to spiral into failure. We’ll just have to see.
