"Generosity" was the theme this week on The Glee Project. If you’re confused as to how one can test generosity in a singing competition, you’re not alone. Yeah, the Glee cast is like a big family, but how does one convey generosity by singing a song? The four remaining contenders tried to reveal their charitable sides with a performance of Bill Withers' “Lean on Me,” and even though guest judge Kevin McHale (Artie on Glee) didn’t seem to have any specific criteria with which to judge, he ultimately anointed Lindsay the winner. So Little Miss Perfect finally wins a Homework Challenge; too bad the competition is practically over.
For the group number, the contenders performed “Sing” by My Chemical Romance. Not only did they have to pretend to play instruments during the video shoot, they also had to perform with children. Each contender was paired with and told to mentor a kid from a school whose music program was lost to budget cuts. Here the contenders could really show off how generous and helpful they could be, and while Lindsay and Samuel hit it off with their mentees, Alex had trouble connecting and Damien seemed to learn more from his kid than vice versa.
When it was time to reveal the bottom three, the contenders were instead greeted with a little twist. Rather of singing for the mentors and Ryan Murphy, those remaining would be performing for Ryan and Glee co-creator/writer Ian Brannan. And since Ian had never seen any of them perform, all of the remaining contenders would have to take the stage.
