Betcha didn't know you could rent what our marketing whiz kids call the CL Space. Old cigar factory, brick, history, yada yada. And so people rent it for stuff, like Irish concerts, weddings, and, this Tuesday, for making wedding singer promo videos. Now, I'm not making fun of the wedding singer/wedding band, because I make money writing about roosters, so who the hell am I to judge, but I do kind of want to kill him, because when you're a writer on deadline and there's a band 20 feet away playing the same fucking verse of "Shut Up and Dance With Me" for FOUR HOURS STRAIGHT, you get rageful. The band followed those four hours with another four of one verse from Want to Want Me, which we all know from the Andie Case cover.
I'd say I'd earned the hell out of weekend, and I'm gonna bring you guys along with me, K?
I've enjoyed the hell out of David Cross since I first stumbled across Mr. Show, which is quite possibly the best sketch comedy of our epoch. I don't expect that at the Straz Friday night, but Bradshaw and I are going full-tilt-bourgeois and double dating to see him anyway. First, though, we're using a CL Deal for The Franklin to grab food (they didn't make me say that, either, we actually use those little guys). You'll know us when you see us: Kate's the one with the gorgeous long hair looking stressed over news-y things, and I'm the one looking infinitely less stressed over artsy/entertainment-sy things, but also like maybe I could be her mom. After the show, maybe we'll grab a drink at Four Green Fields.
Saturday's easy: Let's take a road trip. Throw the kayak on top of the car, grab some donuts from Fray's (I heart the cinnamon), and head south. This one's a haul, I know, but spring makes me want to road trip. As, I should note, does winter, fall and the summer. What's your point? If you're up early enough, you can make it to the Calusa Blueway for the Riverside Yoga and Group Paddle. There are two great things in this world, Loafers: a great kayak trip in southwest Florida and the cold beer at the end of a great kayak trip. Paddle the Blueway, then head home for a beer at Sunset Beach's Ka 'Tiki.
If, of course, you're not up for a road trip, well, Saturday's Record Store Day (and, hey, even if you can't go, read the article for the amusing accusations about how Leilani selected the stores which, of course, are patently untrue).

After all, just like that wedding singer, you've worked up quite the appetite.
