South Tampa's 81Bay Brewing Co. will be the site of a pop-up bike ride this weekend.
Hosted by another South Tampa newbie, boutique cycling studio CycleBar, the indoor cycling class — titled Ride Your Heart Out — is set to kickstart CycleNation, an American Heart Association and American Stroke Association movement.
The movement is meant to empower people to ride more, whether that means using road bikes, stationary bikes or taking cycling lessons, and the 81Bay event will also support CycleNation by raising money for heart disease and stroke research and community programs. A portion of the proceeds for Ride Your Heart Out, held from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, will go to the American Heart Association.
Two lessons will be offered to cyclers — one at noon and the other at 1 p.m. Those who register for either $50 ride will receive three complimentary CycleBar classes, an 81Bay brew, T-shirt and water bottle. Plus, they'll hear a testimony from heart attack survivor Susan Hopkins on how cycling saved her life.
