If you weren’t expecting to stumble upon a 1,000-foot water slide at Saturday’s Florida Blueberry Festival, we have to ask, what’s wrong with you?
Carrying riders along the streets of historic downtown Brooksville, this thing, known as the Urban Slide, will put your backyard Slip 'N Slide to shame. Blueberry-themed food and drink aren’t permitted on the slide, but guests may enjoy blueberry pie, fresh blueberries by the pint, blueberry wine and more festival fare throughout the annual happening’s two-day run.
Street entertainers, fine arts and crafts, specialty retail tents, live performances, and a Blueberry Kids Zone with additional inflatable rides will be showcased as well.
Last year, the event drew a crowd of 47,000-plus people; organizers expect attendance to reach more than 55,000 this time around, so start early on your drive to Hernando so you can be sure to get the full flavor of the Strawberry Festival’s antioxidant-rich cousin.
