Tampa Bay can support a good cause Thursday, May 4 simply by eating — and drinking — around town.
Locally, Dining Out for Life, an annual fundraiser that benefits AIDS service organizations in more than 50 locations around the U.S. and Canada, supports the HIV/AIDS efforts of Empath Partners in Care (EPIC). Nearly all the restaurants in Gulfport are involved with the national dining event, alongside food and drink spots in St. Petersburg, Dunedin and Tampa.
This year's participating restaurants include the Frog Pond, Dunedin Smokehouse, Manatee's on the Bay, Stella's, Community Cafe, Pan y Vino, Hamburger Mary's and Red Star Rock Bar. They're offering everything from breakfast and lunch to dinner and cocktails, and a minimum of 25 percent of each bill is donated to EPIC. Reservations are encouraged where they're accepted.
The event estimates that 1,000 people will eat out to fight HIV/AIDS throughout the region. And like Dining Out For Life puts it: Best. Excuse. Ever not to skip dessert.
