Restaurant chefs are coming up with some pretty creative dishes these days, taking cuisine to new levels every year. While some chefs create original dishes, many take their clues from the ever-evolving culinary scene. In food as in fashion, trends pop up and last for a few months to a few years. But some still hang around somehow and just need to go away — stat.
Last week, the Chicago Tribune listed the top ten "food combinations that must stop." On their list: Watermelon and tomato salads, toppings of alfalfa sprouts, chipotle — in everything, and vodka and cranberry juice ("Really, this should have died at least 10 years ago, alongside the Cosmopolitan."), to name a few.
This inspired me to write up my own list of annoying food trends that I've seen far too much of that should really be over by now. I'm sure you'll agree with me on at least a few of them.
