The Bern’s Steak House family is getting ready to debut their next concept, an ice cream and pastry shop called Little Midway, located at 1205 S. Howard Ave.

The shop recently held a pop-up at EDGE Rooftop Cocktail Lounge for National Ice Cream Day.

According to social media, the shop will have a variety of scoops, a just-announced variety of which is macadamia — it's Bern’s signature recipe, which took Bern Laxer seven years and more than 300 iterations to perfect.

Little Midway will pay homage to the OG Bern and Gert’s Little Midway which was launched in 1954 by Bern and Gert Laxer in downtown Tampa. The sandwich cafe and ice cream parlor was inspired by sideshows and games which gave customers a sense of whimsy with every visit. LM’s website promises classic favorites with a few reimagined concoctions.

Both the pastry chef Heather Birr along and head baker Michelle Guy are hailing from the Bern’s Steak House’s pastry department, and according to Little Midway’s website, they're ready to craft up new delights at the soon-to-debut ice cream shop.

Not only are their bites guaranteed to be dreamy, the dessert joint has also teased a LED sign which reads, “Life is better with sprinkles.”

We’re ready to try.

Upon opening, hours for the ice cream parlor will be Monday through Thursday 10 a.m.-9 p.m., Friday and Saturday 10 a.m.-10 p.m., and Sunday 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Little Midway is currently on the hunt for a baker and bakery counter staff. Those interested can visit littlemidway.com

More details to come as the opening date approaches.
