On Tuesday, Kahwa Coffee and Evan Longoria had an announcement to make. The duo recently joined forces to create a collaboration coffee called Signature Series No. 3, whose proceeds will benefit charities and causes, starting with post-Hurricane Irma relief efforts in Florida.
The new limited-release blend — as chosen by the Tampa Bay Rays third baseman, who initiated the project with a tweet to the St. Petersburg-based roaster — is sourced from three top-notch beans. With qualities that make it work well as an espresso, drip or press, bags of the coffee, which cost $14, are available at any of Kahwa’s 12 locations, Tropicana Field and online.
According to a statement from Longoria, he’s proud to put his name on the blend.
“After visiting Kahwa’s roasting facility St. Pete, I was very impressed,” said the three-time All-Star. “They presented three options from a selection of beans, all delicious. The only difficult part was picking which one to go with. Together, with the team at Kahwa Coffee, we really nailed this blend and I just know fans of good coffee are going to love it.”
Wife-and-husband founders Sarah and Raphael Perrier hope the Signature Series becomes a regular partnership between Kahwa and other locals. The goal is to raise as much as $10,000 during the first phase of their No. 3 collab with Longoria.
“Evan has been a longtime Kahwa customer, and we were quite familiar with his interest in local charities,” Raphael said. “As we both call Tampa Bay home, we’re incredibly excited to bring this project for the greater good to market.”
