The Original Brooklyn Water Bagel Co. might've closed its doors to South Tampa. But, thankfully, that doesn't mean a place to score bagels in the neighborhood is lost. Nosh Artisan Bagels, Coffee & Deli has opened in place of Brooklyn Water Bagel at 111 S. Dale Mabry Highway.
According to a spokesman inside the new eatery, Nosh plans to offer the same food, including freshly baked house-made bagels. The name change is due to the owners leaving the Delray Beach-founded franchise to pursue their own concept.
Little has changed inside, where customers can still watch an automated bagel machine as they wait to place an order.
Nearby, Smashburger is coming along at 4035 S. Dale Mabry Highway, where the fast-casual gourmet burger restaurant's "coming soon" banner is proudly displayed. The first Smashburger for Tampa Bay launched at Clearwater's Tri City Plaza back in November.
Another food franchise, Clean Eatz, recently received its permits and is set to start the build-out process soon. With a menu of health-minded cuisine like house wraps, nachos with sweet potato chips, and build-your-own bowls, the cafe at 3838 W. Neptune St. hopes to be open by the end of July. There's another Clean Eatz location, owned by Douglas Austin, coming to St. Petersburg at 6840 22nd Ave. N.
Pure Kitchen celebrated its grand opening at 3214 W. Kennedy Blvd. over the weekend. Close to SoHo Sushi, the restaurant specializes in a hefty lineup of organic, vegan grab-and-go items — think mac and cheese, jerk fried rice, lentil soup and sweet potato breakfast cookies.
