Along your foodie travels, you may have seen Sorrento Sweets, an Italian coffee shop and bakery, tucked away in Hyde Park Village. What you may not know, is that soon enough, the concept will expand to St. Petersburg when it makes a home within the former Brew D Licious space.
Husband-and-wife owners Salvatore and Rosa Paturzo began Sorrento’s Sweets in Port Richey shortly after moving to the United States from Italy. Salvatore’s back story is pretty impressive.
According to the concept’s website, in the early 1960s in Sorrento, Italy, Salvatore took over his family baking business at the young age of nine and began making a name for himself as a baker. Fast forward to the present and the duo is expanding with a second location in Tampa Bay with its impressive selection of specialty cookies, cannolis, and cakes.
Won’t be long before St. Pete gets a taste of Sorrento’s menu loaded with espresso drinks, tea, pastries, gelato alongside a lineup of sandos at 667 Central Avenue. Until then, you can check out Sorrento’s goods at its Hyde Park location stationed at 716 S. Village Circle in Tampa. To get in the holiday spirit, Sorrento’s has cake cups (cinnamon apple and pumpkin spice) as well as a pumpkin spice latte.
