The delayed Pericos Mexican restaurant opened its doors to St. Petersburg at 8901 Fourth St. N.

Pericos, housed in the long-vacant building where the Hip Hop Soda Shop was poised to launch, gave the building a vibrant update, with decor elements like a carriage mounted above the front entrance and light fixtures disguised as hanging sombreros inside.

The restaurant offers starters for sharing and range of meat, seafood, chicken and pork entrees — mole verde with pork, steak fajitas and ceviche de pescado among them. Mexican specialties, including chile rellanos and tostadas, are also featured. Dishes range from $7 to about $25.
