The wine shop took to Facebook to announce the closure: "There just hasn't been enough business the past couple months to sustain it."
The store, which has hosted innumerable tastings — many as fundraisers for worthy Bay area nonprofits — will be open from noon- 6 p.m. tomorrow.
This might be a wake-up call for residents to redouble their efforts at shopping small and supporting local businesses. The massive hotel construction and other development blocking most of what little street parking was available can't have helped things for Winesmith and its namesake owner, Todd Smith, either.
"I'll have more words later," Smith wrote. "These were hard enough."
A Bubbly tasting will still be hosted tonight, Friday, from 6-9 p.m.
Credit is accepted but cash is "extremely appreciated."
