I love that the photo leading off CL's latest roundup of weekend events is basically the local version of Salt Bae. Seriously, Sea-Guini — whoever that is has a mean sprinkling wrist.
Anyhow, here's how to spend Friday through Sunday surrounded by food and drink.
On Friday, fresh blood oranges and Florida grapefruits take center stage during the release of Pair O' Dice Brewing Company's latest beers. Belly up to the tasting room for Fruits of Our Labor, where Resume Candy (IPA with blood orange), Lonely Robot (IPA with Florida grapefruit) and Nina (Belgian while ale with grapefruit peel and tangelo) are in store between 3 and 11 p.m. The Shanghai Fresh food truck provides the edible goodness. Free, money for beer and food. 4400 118th Ave. N. #208, Clearwater, 727-755-3423.
Opal Sands Resort's Pizza-Making Class is a new addition to Sea-Guini. Hosted at 3 p.m. every Saturday, this hands-on lesson in the restaurant's lounge shows 10 participants how to make pizza dough, as well as how to toss and shape their own homemade pies. Hats and aprons are provided. Reservations can be made at the Sea-Guini hostess stand, and admission includes pizza and one drink. $15. 430 S. Gulfview Blvd., Clearwater Beach, 727-450-6236.
From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Tampa Beer & Brunch Festival attendees taste their way through a variety of takes on that beloved in-between meal from local food trucks, restaurants and catering companies at Cotanchobee Fort Brooke Park. Participating grub vendors include Krepelicious, Sexton's Pizza, The Bacon Boss, The Daily Dose Coffeehouse & Eatery and Xochimex Cantina Grill. More than 60 brunchable cocktails and craft beers also accompany live music, plus games and prizes. Get tickets online. $15-$65. 601 Old Water St., Tampa.
The annual culinary experience that is Taste of South Tampa, now in its 13th year, returns to the Tampa Garden Club from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. More than 30 restaurants and food vendors from the neighborhood are participating — including Joe and Son's Olive Oils, Cask, Carmel Kitchen, Bulla Gastrobar and Flames Indian Cuisine. Expect a beer garden and live entertainment as well. A portion of the proceeds benefits Metropolitan Ministries. Tickets are available online. $40-$85. 2629 Bayshore Blvd., Tampa.
In Tampa Heights and Ybor City, two recently opened spots are on the destination list of the latest Pub Bike Ride. Running from 6 to 10 p.m., Sunday's cruise kicks off at Rock Brothers Brewing, followed by Heights Public Market at Armature Works (which CL Food Critic Jon Palmer Claridge reviewed this week), Lee's Grocery and Zydeco Brew Werks. Front and rear lights are required, and helmets are highly encouraged. Free, money for food and drinks. 1901 N. 15th St., Tampa.
