This week, Tampa welcomed a new, themed bar, called Riveters, at 2301 N Dale Mabry Hwy.(former home of El Toro Loco Mexican Restaurant). As an ode to Rosie the Riveter, servers sport red bandanas and denim tops and are referred to as the bar's "Rosies." A rep for the restaurant told Creative Loafing Tampa Bay that male employees wear more military and tactical uniforms.
"They idea is that the Rosies are in charge here," the rep said.
The eclectic bar and restaurant made its debut on Wed., Jan. 13, by hosting its very first Biker Night event, inviting those with choppers to assemble and duke it out for a trophy. But don't sweat it, if you don't own a hog, you're still welcome to dine and sip at Riveters.
Speaking of which, when it comes to dishes, the restaurant is shooting for an elevated sports bar menu alongside a lineup of healthier options for guests. "Appeteasers" stay on theme with creative names like Munition Mussels, Hellcat Wings and Propaganda Poutine made with shaved ribeye, Wisconsin white cheddar cheese curds, beer gravy, banana peppers, and crispy bacon over Seashore French fries.
There's also a selection of soups, salads, and handhelds. For heartier meals, there are dishes like the Thunderbolt Prime Rib, tomahawk pork chop, a fresh catch of the day option, and the Mustang Steak made with pineapple soy-marinated 8-oz. hangar steak, chargrilled, topped with garlic butter.
Desserts include dishes like Nutella cheesecake, funnel fries and the Salty and Decadent made with salted caramel, pretzel, and dark chocolate brownie served a la mode.
By the way, happy hour goes down Monday-Friday 4 p.m.-7 p.m. offering up value wells ($5), premium wells ($6), house wine ($5) and a select lineup of brews for ($4).
The joint hosts live local talent nightly and stays open until the wee hours of the morning. So whether you're just vibing out with the Rosies, or making your way out to next-door neighbor 2001 Odessey, you can slide by for a bite and beer before Ubering home.
Hours for Riveters are 4 p.m.-midnight Sunday-Wednesday, 4 p.m.-2 a.m. Thursday and 4 p.m.-3 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
