The Palm Harbor Citrus Festival launched Thursday, but there's plenty of time to celebrate all things citrus from Friday to Sunday. Food vendors, craft beer, carnival rides and the Palm Harbor King and Queen Pageant are in store, plus local live music acts rock the downtown event's ninth year on Friday and Saturday. Starting at 11 a.m. Saturday, the 20th anniversary of Festa Italiana weekend, whose festivities also kicked off yesterday, continues a varied lineup of all-ages events throughout Ybor City. Compete in the Italian Idol singing contest and homemade wine competition inside the Italian Club of Tampa for Festa Saturday, or play ball during the annual Bocce Ball Invitational at Centennial Park, where the historic district's weekly farmers' market (with everything from local produce and prepared foods to arts and crafts) also goes down. Enjoy craft coffee — and art, too — from around the bay at the family-friendly Tampa Bay Coffee & Art Festival. Local roasters like Buddy Brew Coffee, Foundation Coffee Co. and Birds of a Feather Coffee are represented during the Noise Box event's two rounds of tastings and info sessions — which take place 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. or 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday — alongside food trucks and vendors that include Mortar & Pestle, Le' Anns Cheesecakes 'N More and PaniniRiffic. Tater Tots & Beer Festival attendees may very well find themselves saying: "What a spud!" The two-in-one fest, hosted from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Perry Harvey, Sr. Park, allows the crowd to sip dozens of domestic, imported and craft beers while noshing on variations of the worshiped tater tot.
