Stalwart veterans (and practically progenitors) of the New York hardcore scene, Agnostic Front continues to deliver an anthemic and boisterous sound, pushing tunes from a catalog stretching well over 20 years. Roger Miret's signature grimy yet oddly clean howls and raspier growls – like a tipsy wolf with a broken larynx – are still just as potent as ever, and he shows no signs of slowing down. It's almost a guarantee there’ll be some pit action for thrillseekers and scene fiends on this night, and plenty of delayed breakdowns with swelling and energetic choruses to get fists pumping in defiance against the jackbooted thugs of “the man.” Among the warm-up highlights are Jacksonville thrash metal act Rhythm of Fear and Port Charlotte’s charmingly classicist, face-meltingly fast punk aficionados, The Antidon'ts. Prevail and Civilian War are also on the bill. Looks like good, clean fun for the whole alt-punk family. Tue., May 17, 7 p.m. doors, Orpheum, Ybor City, $12-$15.
