In other concert news, Toronto folk-pop outfit Bahamas — which just opened for Jack Johnson at the old Gary amp — has announced a headlining show at the Orpheum in Ybor City on May 18. The show is in support of a forthcoming new album, Earthtones, which Bahamas principle Alfie Jurvanen describes as a record about having success, having kids, and having depression.
"I wrote songs about going on tour, going back in time and going in circles," he recently wrote. "I wrote songs about my other worldly wife, my jerk dad and my garbage relationship with my brother."
Drummer James Gadson and bassist Pino Palladino — who both contributed to D'Angelo's Black Messiah — play on the record, which is due via Brushfire Records in January. Still wating for details on that show, but you can keep an eye out here.
