Mainer indie-rock trio Weakened Friends opens the show, along with the tour’s four other Florida shows happening in Gainesville, Orlando, Fort Lauderdale and Jacksonville.
In a press release, Grace said she’ll be fresh out of the studio where she just finished album tracking, adding that she’s “ready to road test new songs.”
Last week, Grace joked that her upcoming solo album will be her last as a singer and guitarist.
“After I’m done recording and touring on I think I’m going to commit myself to just being a bass player,” she wrote. “4 strings of responsibility. That’s all I really want in life.”
That’s unlikely, obviously, and you’ll know why after watching the 42-year-old interact with fans from the stage. There are fewer purer, fan-artist connections than the one Grace has with her followers, who’ll pack 687 Central Ave. where Grace’s band Against Me! played some of its most memorable shows when the room was known as State Theatre (Grace describes many of them in her 2016 memoir “Tranny: Confessions Of Punk Rock’s Most Infamous Anarchist Sellout.”
“I am also of course very much looking forward to screaming the classics along with everyone else. Whatever you want to hear, happy to play it!,” she added in the release. “Also, many blessings to my booking agent for sending me to Florida during the Chicago winter!”
