The Pauses are a long-running Bay area favorite whose affair with the area goes back further than the days when the Orlando indie-pop band played shows with some of our neighborhood's favorite acts (read: Sleepy Vikings and Candy Bars).
Today, The Pauses shared their brand new, J. Robbins-produced album, Unbuilding, with Brooklyn Vegan, which is streaming the release in full two days before its scheduled release on June 22.
"The album title comes from a book of the same name that I happened upon in a thrift store a long time ago," frontwoman Tierney Tough said in a release.
"The Edward Gorey-esque architectural drawings that graced the large pages drew me in, and in technical detail, hypothetically explained how a gigantic building like the Empire State Building could be torn down and moved to another country. Everything about it was attractive, and couldn’t be more relatable for a band that just needed a fresh start. We simply needed to tear it all down and rebuild. Which is what happened here, and we couldn't be happier with the outcome."
The Pauses will play an Ybor City album release show on July 12 at Crowbar in Ybor City where Robbins (Gov't Issue, Jawbox, Vic Bondi) and old-school Tampa emo band Pohgoh open the show.
