Queens, New York hardcore band Sick Of It All wants folks to see through the rage and realize that one of the songs on its new album (“That Crazy White Boy Shit”) is actually an ode to Bad Brains, which influenced Sick Of It All to start making music in the first place. “…such a huge influence not just on us but on all of hardcore, and the fact that it was four black guys making it. That was one of the aspects of early hardcore that was amazing,” drummer Armand Majidi said in a recent interview.
“It was such a melting pot. And it wasn’t like the millennial way of looking at everything through these really racial eyes — everything is broken down, like this race is this, and this race is that. Back then, it was just human — it was people coming together and making music and having a scene.” Sick Of It All supports Wake the Sleeping Dragon at this show at Crowbar where Iron Reagan opens.
