Pensacola's Swag Hollywood brought the deeper side of trap to Ybor Tuesday night with a thumping, clean performance that kept the entire crowd at Crowbar dancing. Hollywood (or Swag maybe?) even gave a shout out to his dad who was in the audience, which prompted the DJ to sound a loving “C-c-c-c-cocaine” from his laptop. This kind of music seems to be far from Mod Sun’s signature "hippie hop” sound, but Mod Sun himself danced and jumped around the stage through the greater part of Swag Hollywood’s set to show his support.

Whereas Hollywood’s sound was more akin to, say, Future; direct opener, Marty Grimes, had more of a Big Sean, West Coast sound. Hailing from the “other bay area” on the other coast, Marty Grimes is a pretty solid, more classical rapper. During his set, he publicly told his friend to buy him a pizza from the bar, which he shared with everyone on stage once it arrived. He even threw a half eaten slice off the stage and into the hands of a blue haired girl, who proceeded to eat the rest of the slice.

Then was Mod Sun, who had the most stage energy I’ve seen from any performer since Matt & Kim. He came out in circular, diamond encrusted shades and a white sweater covered in red lip prints. As he performed, he slowly lost more and more clothes until he was just wearing his black skinny jeans and shoes. Mod Sun’s M.O. is being all about free love and weed smoke. He did stunts like shotgunning a hit of a blunt with a girl in the front row and drinking a scary amount of Jack Daniels. Despite that, Mod Sun delivered a great performance, ending the concert drenched in sweat and whiskey. He’s incredibly confident with himself, constantly sending words of affirmation and positivity towards the attentive audience.

Post show, however, was a different story. After his friends fought him to take his bottle of whiskey, they ended up letting him take a monster chug of it onstage right before he met his fans at the merch table. There he took sloppy photos with fans and climbed on top of the merch table multiple times, still shirtless and sticky with whiskey. After throwing handfuls of his merchandise for free to his fans still waiting, he stumbled out the door and into the middle of the street on a cold, Ybor Tuesday night.

Here are some videos fans shot with the artist after the show.
